Volunteers to lay memorials nationwide

Posted

The Floral Heart Project will lay floral hearts in cities and towns across the United States — including Port Townsend — on Monday, March 1.

A project started by artist Kristina Libby to help create spaces for public grieving and to share support for people suffering, the COVID-19 memorial effort has organized volunteers across the country to recognize a National Day of Mourning.

The project has partnered with local florists and volunteers, Lexi Koch and Lisa Leporati, to bring this event to the area.

The memorial laying will take place starting at 9:30 a.m. at Haller Fountain in Downtown.
