The man killed in a early morning dispute at Sandy Shore Lake Wednesday has been identified as David Mark Andrew Moore.
Moore, 38, was a Port Hadlock resident. He has lived in Port Hadlock since 2016.
The suspected shooter has been identified as Jason B. Thesenvitz, 40, of Poulsbo.
According to the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office, Thesenvitz is believed to have shot Moore during a confrontation that happened sometime around 3:40 a.m. Wednesday.
Sheriff Joe Nole said Thesenvitz called police and said he had shot another man during a confrontation at Sandy Shore Lake.
Deputies were called to Sandy Shore Lake at 3:42 a.m. Wednesday, where Thesenvitz was waiting for deputies.
Moore was found dead at the scene.
Thesenvitz was immediately taken into custody, but was released after questioning.
The case remains under investigation, Nole said, but it appears that Thesenvitz was acting in self-defense.
