The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office identified the man who died of a gunshot wound early Saturday morning as Robin L. Richards, 62, of Quilcene.
Richards’ next of kin have been notified of his death.
A Port Townsend man was arrested just before 1 p.m. Nov. 27 as a suspect in Richards’ death following a nearly 12-hour search.
Blake R. Fox, 37, of Port Townsend was booked into jail at 1:29 p.m. Saturday.
Fox is being held without bail. He was identified as a second-degree murder suspect by the sheriff’s office Saturday morning after a witness told deputies Fox had shot Richards and then fled in a red 2008 Ford F-150 pickup before deputies arrived.
Richards was found unconscious when deputies arrived. He died at the scene, according to Jefferson County Detective Sgt. Brett Anglin.
Anglin said the witness called 911 after the shooting, and the type of kind of firearm used in the incident is still under investigation.
Fox was found at 12:44 p.m. Saturday in the 3000 block of West Valley Road and was taken into custody without incident.
