Two Port Townsend residents test positive for COVID-19

Two Port Townsend residents — a man and a woman in their 20s — have tested positive for COVID-19, Jefferson County health officials reported late Wednesday.

With the two new cases, the cumulative total number of coronavirus cases in Jefferson County rose to 333 Feb. 24.

Health officials announced the results of 46 new tests Wednesday; 44 residents had negative results for the coronavirus.

There have been 19,064 COVID-19 tests since the start of the pandemic, and 18,709 have come back negative.

Jefferson County health officials reported Wednesday that five people remain in isolation due to the coronavirus. 

Twenty-two residents are still awaiting test results.

In Jefferson County, 300 people have recovered from COVID-19 and 24 people have been hospitalized for the disease. Two deaths of Jefferson County residents have been linked to COVID-19.

Most of those who have tested positive for the coronavirus live in Port Townsend.

There have been 154 cases of COVID-19 in Port Townsend; 149 cases in mid-county; and 30 in south county (Quilcene, Brinnon, and West Jefferson).

By gender, 163 females have tested positive, and 170 males have had positive test results.

By age, most cases — 64 in all — have involved residents under the age of 20.

The age group of 60-69 is the second leading category of positive tests, according to age. A total of 59 people in that category have tested positive.

A total of 180 people under the age of 50 have tested positive for COVID-19 in Jefferson County, while 153 residents 50 and older have tested positive.
