The mountains, streams and hills of the Pacific Northwest now have a guardian angel. Tommy Everett Hall, 70, passed away unexpectedly on Sept. 6, 2021. He was born and raised in Port Townsend, the son of Patricia (Yuhl) and Cecil Hall, and was a lifelong resident of Port Townsend.

After graduating from Port Townsend High School in 1968, he worked at Crown-Zellerbach paper mill, Indian Island Security and Hadlock Building Supply before retiring to enjoy time in his garden and with his grandsons.

Tom’s personal charm and infectious smile won the heart of Cindy Higdon in 1974, and they spent 41 years raising a loving family. His four boys cherish their camping trips, the daily cruise out to Fort Worden, rooting for his Mariners, and his love of music played throughout the Hall house.

He leaves his beloved wife Cindy; his sons Donovan (Karen); Darrell (Robyn); Ian (Stephanie) and Kyle; along with his brother Michael (Vivian); and adoring grandchildren Colin and Carter.

He is preceded in death by his mother and father, but leaves behind a loving family, as well as an extensive group of close friends and hiking companions.

Tom loved hiking and camping, especially his Alaskan adventure with lifelong friends. Most of all, he enjoyed making people smile and greeted everyone with a warm wave. Tom was a generous and humble man who never sat for too long and loved being outdoors. His love for the wilderness and the Earth beneath his feet was shared by many who knew him and those who loved hearing about his adventures. As the life of the Hall family, he will be missed beyond belief, but most of all, he has now returned to the wilderness he loved so much.

A celebration of Tom’s life will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 23 at the Port Townsend Elks Lodge #317, located at 555 Otto St.
