Thoughts about losing a beloved companion | Letter to the editor

I was going to write about that scoundrel in the White House, but if folks don’t know he is the most divisive president since James Buchanan then they will never know!

No, I am writing about something we can all agree on; how painful it is to lose a beloved pet!

My dear border collie, Zera, has been diagnosed with the onset of kidney failure and epilepsy. She recently has a seizure on the bus. So I took her to my vet and found out her time is near.

For 15 short years she has been by my side, through thick and thin, bad times and good. There when I was down and there when I was happy! How many can say that about any of their friends? I recently had a vet who specializes in euthanasia come out and look Zera over, and she said she is suffering from brain problems, and to prepare myself for the end.

How can you do that? All I know is my world will be a lesser place with her passing, but I know she will be waiting for me at The Rainbow Bridge with her “squirrel” toy in her mouth and a smile on her face and a furious tail a waggin’!

If you see us on the sidewalk somewhere, stop and give her a hug, and maybe one for me as well!
