With the crack of the ball against bat, the last game of the Jefferson County Rec Softball Tournament commenced Aug. 6. The final two teams in the tournament were Team Arrow and Team HansenCraft Spinners. Fans lined the outside of the ballpark at HJ Carroll Park to cheer on their loved ones in the soft evening light, with the coming of autumn and shorter days in the background. The sun began to go down as Team Arrow pulled ahead, sliding around the bases and kicking up the dirt. But HansenCraft Spinners made a valiant effort, keeping their score up. If it weren’t for a few dropped balls they might have caught up, but in the end Arrow Lumber took home the prize 17 to 11. The game was the end of a nine team double-elimination tournament put on by Jefferson County Parks and Rec, said director Chris Macklin.
