It's with great sadness and heartache that we announce the passing of our sister Susan Valentine Poe. Susan was the first-born daughter to Charles Walter Guthrie and Patricia Margret (small) Guthrie. On February 14, 1943. In Raymond Washington. The family later moved to Port Townsend Washington where Susan grew up, attended school and later married her first husband Russell J. Caldwell. Susan and Russell had three children together. Russell (Rusty), Martin (Marty) and Connie Sue, who passed away soon after birth. Susan and Russell divorced not long after the loss of their Baby Connie.
Sue married her second husband James Poe years later and were blessed with sons Marlon James Poe and Lance Poe. Susan and James (Jimmy) lived in Dallas Texas for many years. They divorced when their sons were pre-teen, and Susan moved back to Washington with Marlon and Lance. She had a home built and lived there for the rest of her life.
Sue was a very kind soul. She worked as an office clerk for several years. Then received her flaggers card/license and worked for Jefferson Co. Washington road crews nearly 20 years before retiring. She loved going for drives traveling to Oregon to visit her youngest son, Lance. She loved her sons with an open heart. Admired the strength they had by being themselves. She became a second Mom to Her son-in-law Bill Thelin (Marlon). Welcoming him in her life with open arms.
Susan was preceded in death by Baby Connie Sue Caldwell and sons Russell Caldwell, Martin Caldwell, Marlon Poe and Lance Poe, and both parents, Charles and Patricia Guthrie. Brother Ronnie Guthrie, Donnie Guthrie, Walter Guthrie and Sister Margie Guthrie.
Susan leaves behind Brothers Lonn (Donna), William, Joseph and Paul (Kitty). Sisters Patricia (Richard)Daniels, Lana Lindsey, Tina Holeman, Linda (Leon)Dechant, Christy Webber, Molly Deen, Shelly Brown and Peggy Ryan and many nieces and nephews.
A graveside service was held December 9th, 2024, for Family and friends, Where Susan was placed with her youngest son Lance Poe and near her Son Marlon Poe in Sequim Washington.
It has been hard to say Goodbye to such a kind soul. Susan had so many heartbreaking losses in her life. She's now at Peace and with her children. God Bless.
