Elizabeth Krajewski and Skyler Zabransky have been chosen as the January Students of the Month by the Port Townsend Sunrise Rotary.
Rotary regularly recognizes two Port Townsend High School students as Students of the Month. Each month, the club asks staff and teachers of Port Townsend High School to focus on a different facet of student life and the focus in January was Excellence in Career and Technical Education.
Elizabeth Krajewski is the daughter of Rebecca Krajewski and is currently a sophomore at PTHS. She has excelled in woodworking, and has been able to translate her skills into a small enterprise with an on virtual presence.
Skyler Zabransky, son of Michelle Zabransky, who is currently a senior, is excelling in the maritime program. After graduation, he plans to attend the Tongue Point Job Corp Training program in Astoria, Oregon.
The criteria used to select the students include demonstrating creativity in project design, persistence in completing projects, teamwork, and involvement in career and technical training beyond classroom requirements.
In addition to recognizing Students of the Month, Port Townsend Sunrise Rotary supports youth through sponsoring an Interact Leadership and Service Club, participating in Christmas for Children, donating picture dictionaries to every third-grade student in Jefferson County, supporting nutritional program for newborns, Little Free Pantries, Foster Family Support, Mock Trial, international sanitation and vaccination programs, and funding three local scholarships.
