And that’s a wrap for the East Jefferson Rivals’ spring sports season — apart from boys tennis and the track and field teams headed to Yakima for State.
The spring season saw the familiar return of baseball and boys soccer, and softball returned to the diamond for EJ as the team made its debut under the Rivals umbrella.
The totality of EJ spring sports includes boys and girls golf, boys and girls track and field (ongoing), baseball, softball, boys soccer, and girls tennis.
Here’s the recap of how the spring sports season turned out for the Rivals.
SOFTBALL
Returning to the Peninsula for their inaugural season since the Chimacum and Port Townsend sports combination, the EJ softball team brought energy and passion in their return season. The girls finished with a final record of 2-16 (2-14 league record) missing out on the Nisqually League playoffs.
BASEBALL
The EJ boys were back in action on the Chimacum diamond, bringing their best against Nisqually League foes. The baseball team ended the season with a 1-17 (1-15 league record) and missed out on the playoffs.
BOYS/GIRLS GOLF
The Rivals girls and boys golfers chipped their way through the season with more than double the participants compared to last year and a wave of underclassmen bringing their best. The girls left the greens with a 0-6 record and the boys ended on a 1-6-1 record in the Nisqually League.
BOYS SOCCER
The EJ boys soccer team returned to action with a solid core of seniors and plenty of underclassmen this year, kicking through the competition. The soccer squad wrapped the season with a 4-10-1 (4-9-1 league record) to just miss out on a playoff berth this year.
GIRLS TENNIS
The Rivals tennis players swung through the season and faced plenty of opponents in the region. The team ended on a 2-6 record in the Nisqually League.
