The Bainbridge Spartans outshot East Jefferson in boys and girls varsity golf late last week at Port Ludlow Golf Course.

The Spartans prevailed 161-213 in boys play.

Bainbridge was led by Nick Zambrano, who shot a 38.

Braley Phillips was the standout for the EJ team; he finished with a score of 47.

Wilder Lewis shot a 52 for EJ, while Cade Martin walked off the course with a 55 and Lane Liske shot a 59.

In girls play, Bainbridge won 201-274.

Anna Kollaski of the Spartans led all scorers with a 43.

Alyssa Vandenberg shot a 61 for EJ, while teammate Logan McMichael finished with a score of 69.

East Jefferson Coach Hazli Katsikapes said the team is going through a rebuilding year with lots of enthusiastic beginners.

“Braley Phillips has been the leading scorer for EJ and is starting to show his potential,” Katsikapes said.

“Wilder Lewis is nursing a slight wrist injury but is coming into form,” he added.

Bainbridge has a solid and strong squad who averaged around 40 for its top four scorers, Katsikapes said, but the Spartans were gracious visitors during the competition.

“We couldn’t have asked for a nicer bunch of kids to compete with in the Bainbridge team. It’s great when the coaching staff are on the same page trying to educate and nurture both sides’ athletes,” he added.
