The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office responded to a total of 319 calls for service from March 28 through April 4. Deputies conducted 113 traffic stops, of which 6 resulted in criminal (misdemeanor/felony) charges.

March 28: A CenturyLink employee reported a theft of cable on the Larry Scott Trail in the Glen Cove area. CenturyLink was just looking to make a report on the matter, and did not request any further investigation into the theft.

March 29: A caller in the greater Irondale region reported a blue Dodge pickup driving fast through the neighborhood, apparently running stop signs as well. Deputies drove through the area looking for the truck, however, it appeared to have gone out of the area before that point.

March 30: A caller at the Hadlock QFC reported a collision which occurred in the parking lot. Both vehicles involved were still on scene at the time. A deputy arrived at QFC and was unable to locate the involved vehicles. The caller advised on a later phone call that the two parties had exchanged information properly, as they are supposed to. Nothing further was required.

March 31: Deputies conducted patrols of the waterways surrounding East Jefferson County today, making contact with several derelict and vessels over-moored in the bay. Infractions and referrals to DNR for removal of derelict vessels were made as appropriate.

April 1: A deputy was dispatched to a call about gunshots being heard in the Port Townsend area. The caller thought it may have been their landlord, apparently. When the deputy attempted to call the reporting person back, they claimed to have just spoke with a deputy (though no other deputy had called this person).

April 2: Deputies assisted Port Townsend PD with an assault involving multiple people at a hotel. None of the parties involved in the brief altercation desired to press charges on anyone else. The group were all intoxicated from drinking, and told to quit causing a ruckus.

April 3: A Port Townsend area caller reported being the victim of fraud, after noticing that for the past several months small charges were being made to their card over time by someone who had obtained the victim’s card information. The investigation is ongoing.

April 4: Deputies assisted in locating a missing person in the Mats Mats area, after someone called 911 reporting their spouse had wandered off and could not be located. As the first deputy arrived and was coordinating the search response, the missing person was located unharmed.
