Naval Magazine Indian Island is hosting a training exercise scheduled Thursday, April 15.

Navy officials said the training activities will include the use of blank ammunition, loud sirens and bright blue flashing lights at the installation.

Residents living in the communities surrounding Indian Island, as well as installation personnel, may notice increased noise levels and activities associated with the training exercise Thursday.

Officials at Naval Magazine Indian Island said the training will include measures to avoid the spread of COVID-19, and personnel participating in the exercise will comply with guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Department of Defense by implementing proper physical distancing when practicable and by wearing cloth masks.

The Navy conducts similar security exercises at installations around the world to ensure readiness and verify response procedures.
