Women’s Golf Clubs have teed off for the 2021 golfing season.
Opening Day for Discovery Bay Women’s Golf Club was, no fooling, April 1.
A beautiful day on the links started out a little chilly, but the women were warmed up a few holes into the game.
Ten golfers played “Bingo, Bango, Bongo” on the front nine. For this game, points are awarded for the player who is first on the green, closest to the pin and to whomever has a one-putt.
The winner was Terry Graham with 10 points; Marianne Ott was second with nine points; Jane Guiltinan was third with eight points; and Barb Aldrich and Diane Solie tied for fourth with six points each.
The weather held out nicely for the Port Townsend women’s Opening Day, as well, on April 6.
Ten golfers took on the challenge of a team scramble. The winners were the team of Jane Guiltinan, Karen Michaud and Lynn Bidlake, with a team score of 45. Second place went to the team of Betty Gastfield, Barb Matter and Cindy Breed, who scored a 46.
The public is invited to come join either or both clubs.
The Discovery Bay Women’s Golf Club plays nine holes (non-competitive) on Tuesdays and
18 holes (with optional organized games) every Thursday.
The Port Townsend Women’s Golf Club plays nine holes, with optional games every Tuesday.
In the month of April, both clubs meet at 9:30 a.m. and start teeing off at 10 a.m. Membership is $15 and participation in the games requires a GHIN handicap at both courses.
COVID-19 restrictions currently apply, including masks inside the pro shops.
