For the second year in a row, Port Townsend and Chimacum high schools will have a joint team consisting of players from each school.
Once heated competitors, Port Townsend and Chimacum high schools have morphed into the East Jefferson Rivals.
The joint team had its first practice of the season on Wednesday, Aug. 18 with the upcoming football season in sight.
The team’s first game of the season is set for 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 3 against Granite Falls High School.
The opening game is called the Andy Palmer Memorial Game, where all gate money from the event goes to the Associated Student Body scholarship fund.
The Parent-Teachers Association will match the proceeds and give the funds to a Port Townsend High School student, as the Andy Palmer Scholarship, at the end of the year.
