A large part of the Ranger roster has earned honors as members of the Quilcene football team won All Sea-Tac League recognition.

Quilcene finished the season at Sea-Tac League champions, and the team went undefeated this year.

It marked the fourth year in a row the Rangers claimed the Sea-Tac title with an unblemished record.

Bishop Budnek, a junior on the team, was named League Most Valuable Players for Offense.

Over the last 14 games, Bishop Budnek has rushed for almost 2,900 yards and has scored 327 points.

Zach Budnek, his brother and a senior at the school, was honored as League Most Valuable Player for Defense.

Zach Budnek has been a five-year starter for Quilcene.

As a junior, he was voted league MVP and was a 1st team all-state selection at offensive and defensive line.

Also named to the Sea-Tac 1st team: Deakon Budnek (sophomore, offensive line); Cash Thacker (sophomore, linebacker); Ashton Johnston (junior, defensive line); Austin Hough (senior, defensive back); and Kevin Alejo (junior, defensive back).

Nathan Kieffer, a junior quarterback, was named to the Sea-Tac League 2nd team.

James Miller, a sophomore at Quilcene, was also named to the 2nd team for his play on the offensive line.

Quilcene Coach Trey Beathard also praised the contribution made this season by senior captain Chase Newman.

Newman, a five-year letterman, was injured in the first game of the season but returned to play in the championship battle against the Evergreen Lutheran Eagles.

“He was able to return for our final game and played an essential role in that victory,” Beathard said.
