Thirty-two golfers with the Port Townsend Golf Course Players Club and enthusiasts in the area joined up for the second annual Apple Pie Scramble, with the top two teams receiving tasty apple pie for their efforts.
The scramble was held Oct. 8 and eight four-person teams battled it out for the taste of victory.
The winning low-gross team included Eli Amerson, Jim Fultz, Roy Sutherman, and Woody Woodley, while the low-net winning squad comprised of Dave Bueter, George Bush, and Jane and Will Peoples.
The freshly-baked, homemade pies received by the winning teams were donated by Patsy Caldwell, Lynn Bidlake, Katherine Buchanan, Starla Audette, and Barb Aldrich.
Coming up next or the golf course schedule is Oct. 15’s “Greens Keeper’s Revenge” Tournament. The three-person team, 18-hole scramble event will put even the sharpest golfer’s skills to test with a challenging course curated by the greenskeeper.
Small and fast greens, precarious pin placements, and other obstacles will be sure to challenge and even frustrate the top golfers on the Peninsula.
