Port Townsend schools host Back to School events

The Port Townsend School District will host a meet-and-greet event for the public to meet Superintendent Linda Rosenbury and other new staff.

Rosenbury started as district superintendent July 1 and replaced outgoing superintendent Sandy Gessner-Crabtree.

Rosenbury has been a doctoral resident in Highline Public Schools and is completing a Doctorate of Education Leadership from Harvard University.

She has 19 years of experience in education and has worked as a teacher and a principal.

Rosenbury earned a bachelor’s degree of arts from Yale University, and a master degree in education from Mercy College.

The meet-and-greet is planned for 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 25 in the Cotton Building, 607 Water St.

The district also announced other back-to-school meetings that will be held before the start of school in early September.

Port Townsend High School will host a freshman-parent meeting from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 31. 

Freshman orientation is set for Wednesday, Sept. 1.

Students can pick up their class schedules from 9 a.m. to noon Thursday, Sept. 2.

Blue Heron Middle school will hold its Back to School Night from 5 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 1.

Salish Coast Elementary school has scheduled its kindergarten information and roundup event for 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 1. Back to School Night is 4:30 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 2.

For the OCEAN K-12 program, Back to School Night is 5 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 2.

The school district’s Online Program grades (1-12) will hold Family Night from 6 to
6:45 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 1.

The first day of school — and picture day at the high school — is Tuesday, Sept. 7.
