The Port Townsend Police Department received a total of 144 calls between Friday, June 10, and Thursday, June 16. Below are selected reports.

At 8:50 p.m. Saturday, June 11, at the Water Street and Tyler Street intersection, a caller reported juveniles fighting in the roadway.

The bystander said they saw six teens running in and out of traffic, with one of them holding a stick. Police drove to the scene to investigate, but the officers didn’t locate anyone involved once they arrived. There were no witnesses and nobody else called in about the incident, and the officers left.

At 7:40 a.m. Sunday, June 12, a resident in the 200 block of Thomas Street reported that someone had broken into their vehicle overnight.

They were unsure if anything had been taken, and noted that they left the car unlocked overnight. The passenger door had been left open along with the glovebox. A report was taken of the attempted car prowl.

At 8:25 a.m. Sunday, June 12, in the 200 block of Thomas Street, a caller reported that their car had been prowled. A bag of makeup, worth $50, had been stolen. A report was made.

At 11 a.m. Monday, June 13, a caller in the 100 block of Cherry Street reported that the abandoned apartment complex had been broken into again.

They said a group of teens had kicked down the front door and could hear loud banging while they were inside. Officers arrived on the scene and two of the teens ran away. The teens were contacted later and said they didn’t know anything about the break-in.

At 1:10 p.m. Monday, June 13, a resident in the 1400 block of Sims Way reported a transient woman on their property. They said the woman appeared to have been living on the roof of the property as well as in the woods behind the building. The neighbors had also said they saw a fire in the woods the night before. The transient  woman was found on the second-floor balcony by police and given a trespass admonishment from the property.

At 3 p.m. Monday, June 13, a neighbor in the 2100 block of Renee Place reported that a tenant was being evicted from their property and was planning to leave a bunch of chickens and ducks behind. The police advised the neighbor to contact the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office and to speak with animal control.

At 9:50 a.m. Tuesday, June 14, in the 2000 block of McClellan Street, a caller reported that they were being harassed by a teenager. They said the kid kept coming into the driveway, staring through the windows, then going behind their house and yelling.

The reporting party told police they have at least one video of the behavior. Officers contacted the teen’s mom, who said the kid has health challenges and is afraid of people. No crime had occurred and the officers left.
