The Port Townsend Police Department received a total of 144 calls between Friday, June 10, and Thursday, June 16. Below are selected reports.

At 11:10 a.m. Tuesday, June 14, a theft was reported at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds. The victim told officers that boat batteries and motors had been taken from their trailer. The door latch was broken off and a report was taken of the theft.

At 10:45 p.m. Wednesday, June 15, an instance of domestic violence was observed in the 2100 block of Sims Way by a bystander. The reporting party said they saw a person trying to get away and a woman screaming. They said they saw a woman being restrained by a man, who threw her into his vehicle and drove off at a high speed. They had no description of the vehicle. Later on, police received a report of a man with a white shirt with blood on it.

Officers drove to the area and located a woman in a car who was bleeding out of her nose. The man was not in the area and the officers were unable to locate him. The police know who the suspect is and filed a report and requested an arrest warrant for domestic violence assault.

At 9:45 a.m. Thursday, June 16, in the 2100 block of Kingsley Place, a caller reported a burglary. The caller said he went into his ex-girlfriend’s house through the window to retrieve $15,000 that belonged to him. He was concerned the ex would try to send him back to jail.

A short time later, the girlfriend called and said that he broke into her home and took her money from a box in the closet. The man said the money belonged to him and the ex was holding on to it because he has an active addition to heroin and fentanyl. Officers arrived at the home, secured it, and took photos of the burglarized home. They also secured three firearms from the property.

Police conducted a full interview with the man, whose story was contradictory to the ex’s story. The case is still under investigation.

At 5 p.m. Thursday, June 16, in the 2300 block of Third Street, there was a report of a suspicious man and woman. The man was seen on the reporting party’s property looking into the windows, while the woman was hiding in the bushes nearby. Officers arrived at the property, but the man and woman had already left.

At 8:50 p.m. Thursday, June 16, a loud alarm had gone off at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds, and a caller said it had been going off for 15 minutes.

Nobody was seen on the property, and the campgrounds’ host was unaware of the alarm going off.
