Two people were killed in a two-vehicle head-on collision Saturday afternoon on U.S. Highway 101 just east of Sequim.
The crash happened just after 1:30 p.m. Dec. 26 when a 2001 Chevrolet PT Cruiser heading east crossed the center line of the highway and hit a 2018 Ram 3500 pickup truck that was going west, according to the Washington State Patrol.
The driver of the Chevrolet, a 40-year-old Port Ludlow woman, died at the scene.
A female passenger in the vehicle was also killed.
The State Patrol has not identified the deceased, pending notification of their next of kin.
The driver of the pickup truck, a 62-year-old Poulsbo man, was injured in the crash and airlifted by helicopter to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.
A passenger in the truck, a 61-year-old Sequim woman, was also hurt and flown to Harborview Medical Center.
Both vehicles were totaled, according to the State Patrol.
The highway was closed for 6 1/2 hours after the collision.
