The Port Townsend Police Department responded to 178 calls for service from Aug. 11-17.

Aug. 11: Officers responded to a suspicious vehicle at a local apartment complex in the 1600 block of 21st Street. According to the report, a vehicle was slowly driving through the parking lot, parking and reversing several times, while revving the engine. Officers located the vehicle unoccupied.

• Officers responded to an unwanted person at the local shelter in the 200 block of Monroe Street. Upon arrival, the subject had already left the shelter. No known threats were made, but they had a disagreement with the employees.

• Officers conducted a traffic stop for texting while driving a motor vehicle in the business park at West Park Ave.

• Officers responded to a theft at a local business in the 900 block of Water Street. The suspect was located, trespassed and arrested.

• Officers responded to an animal bite in the 1100 block of 19th Street. The neighbor’s dog attacked and bit a juvenile in the face. The dog was taken for a mandated quarantine. The juvenile is recovering from his injuries.

Aug. 12: An officer responded to a report of graffiti on a garage in the 700 block of Water Street. The graffiti has since been cleaned. There are no suspects at this time.

• Officers responded to a vehicle prowl in the 400 block of Umatilla Avenue. The victim’s vehicle was broken into overnight. There are no suspects at this time.

Aug. 13: Officers conducted a traffic stop in the 1000 block of Sheridan Avenue, and determined the driver was impaired. The suspect was arrested for DUI and transported to jail.

Aug. 15: Officers responded to a theft of a cell phone in the 900 block of Kearney Avenue. The suspect had stolen the phone, and took off on an electric bike. Officers were unable to locate the suspect.

• Officers located a warrant suspect in the 2500 block of Evans Vista Boulevard. The suspect was taken into custody without incident, and transported to jail. 

• Officers located a warrant suspect in the 200 block of Monroe Street. The suspect was taken into custody without incident, and transported to jail. 

• Officers responded to a burglary at the Jefferson County Courthouse. The suspect broke in, caused damage and stole property, including a vehicle, with which they left the city limits. The suspect was apprehended at Rialto Beach.
