The Port Townsend Police Department responded to a total of 178 call for service from March 28 to April 3, and officers conducted 23 traffic stops. Calls such as domestic violence and suicides are left out of the call logs, so as not to re-traumatize victims and loved ones.

 

March 28: Malicious mischief occurred near Sheridan and 7th streets. A vehicle had three of its tires slashed and its ignition broken. The incident was caught on video, and the investigation is ongoing.

March 29: Turn signal lenses were stolen from a 2000 Toyota near Sims Way and Rainier Street overnight.

• A woman was reportedly heard screaming in the woods at Bishop Park, but it was determined to be children playing.

• Children egged a house near 19th Street and Discovery Road.

March 30: A report of gunfire at Sheridan and Hastings streets was determined to be construction in the area, as the likely cause of the sound.

March 31: Officers observed a vehicle broken down in the 2600 block of Sims Way, and assisted the driver in getting the vehicle safely off the roadway.

• Complaints were made of people not cleaning up after their dogs near a trail on 20th Street. Residents are dealing with the odor. Please clean up after your animals.

April 1: A report was made of a scam call pretending to be Puget Energy, trying to collect a past due bill.

• Car keys and a pair of sunglasses were found at Memorial Field and held in safe keeping. If they are yours, please come and claim them.

April 2: A man was hitting golf balls into the bay near the marina. He left the area before officers arrived.

April 3: Hit and run attempt 1200 block of Sims. Witness prevented the suspect from leaving. Driver was cited and released for the hit and run.
