The Port Townsend Police Department responded to a total of 206 calls from Jan. 24-31.

 

Jan. 24: During the morning hours, officers conducted 5 traffic stops, primarily in school zones.

• A burglary was reported in the 3300 block of San Juan Avenue. The RP (reporting party) stated the suspect broke into their shed on the previous Monday and stole power tools. The suspect was identified through surveillance video. The suspect had multiple out-of-county warrants, but the counties would not extradite. Officers obtained a search warrant and recovered the stolen property. The suspect was arrested on Jan. 29.

Jan. 25: A road rage incident resulted in the arrest of the suspect for assault, malicious mischief and vehicle prowling. The victim was driving slowly to take a corner, when the suspect driver passed him and the victim flashed his lights. The suspect pulled over, as did the victim. The suspect reached through the window, grabbed the victim and shook him. A witness verified the events. The suspect was located, arrested and transported to jail.

• Vandalism was reported at apartments on Gaines Street. The RP and their neighbor reported planters that had been knocked over and damaged. The damage was photographed and a report taken.

Jan. 26: Officers responded to an indecent exposure incident in the 2400 block of West Sims Way. The man was contacted by police and issued a trespass admonishment.

• A vehicle was stopped for speeding on San Juan Avenue. The driver was arrested for a suspended driver’s license and multiple active warrants. In addition to those offenses, the vehicle did not have license plates, and the driver was not wearing a seatbelt and did not have insurance.

Jan. 27: Officers are investigating a report of threats and harassment, in which a known individual made threats to kill, via Twitter, toward a doctor based on ideological differences on COVID vaccines. A warrant for the individual’s Twitter account is being pursued.

• Sometime over the weekend, someone kicked in the door to a public restroom near the city dock. A malicious mischief report was taken.

Jan. 28: Officers conducted 12 traffic stops throughout the city for various violations.

• A warrant arrest was conducted when officers received a tip on the location of a male subject with multiple outstanding warrants. He was located, arrested and transported to jail.

Jan. 29: Officers responded to numerous coordinated complaints of two dogs in a vehicle at the Aladdin Motel. Multiple times officers responded, observed the dogs had food, water and blankets, and were not in distress. There was no crime observed. Several RPs were rude with officers, demanding something be done.

• Officers responded to four separate welfare checks on this date.

Jan. 30: A two-vehicle collision that blocked the roadway occurred at the intersection of West Sims Way and Hancock Street, when one vehicle reversed into the other. One passenger suffered chest pain from their seatbelt. A report was taken.

Jan. 31: Officer conducted 22 traffic stops on Jan. 30-31.
