The Port Townsend Police Department responded to 217 calls between Sept. 13 to Sept. 20.
Note: Calls such as domestic violence, suicides etc. are left out of the call log as to not retraumatize victims.
Sept. 13: Officers responded to a possible overdose upon request of medics. The patient did not survive, and a death investigation is still in progress.
– A subject with confirmed warrants was arrested at the courthouse.
Sept. 14: A pit bull escaped from its house, attacked and killed another dog while it was being walked with its owner. Officers seized the pit bull and have it quarantined pending a dangerous dog classification.
Sept. 15: Officers assisted the fire department after the reporting party spotted a fire on shore near downtown while they were on their boat. Officers contacted several transients suspected of having the fire and were warned.
— Officers responded to a threats call at a transient camp. Dispatch could hear yelling in the background. Officers determined this was a verbal altercation with no crime.
Sept. 16: A reporting party called in an unwanted person that was camping in a white van in front of their store for several days. The subjects were contacted and educated on the city ordinance for 24-hour camping.
— An officer and sheriff’s deputy recognized a male with active warrants as he walked in front of their patrol cars. The warrants were confirmed and the subject arrested.
Sept. 17: The reporting party stated someone backed into their car while at church Saturday night. Due to the three-day delay in reporting, the accident scene could not be investigated.
— QFC staff reported that one of their employees had been assaulted. It was reported the suspect pushed the employee when they were asked if they needed assistance. Officers have identified the suspect and issued probable cause for his arrest.
Sept. 18: Officers responded to a traffic complaint when a vehicle ran out of gas and blocked an intersection. Officers pushed the vehicle out of the roadway.
— Two vehicles collided in the Safeway Fast Shop parking lot. The two drivers had conflicting statements and a witness said the vehicles hit each other simultaneously.
Sept. 19: Officers have developed probable cause for felony harassment – threats to kill when a teen threatened another teen on Snapchat.
— Officers conducted five traffic stops between responding to other calls.
Sept. 20: Officers responded to a drive by shooting at approximately 0153 hours near the 1900 block of Sherman St. Officers recovered multiple shell casings, witness statements and surveillance video. The suspects have been identified and probable cause has been issued for their arrest. No one was injured.
— Two traffic collisions occurred within the span of two minutes at 0940 hours. There were no injuries at either accident. The first accident was on Decatur Street, the second on Kearney Street.
