Northwind Art has announced the award winners for The Printmaker’s Hand V juried exhibit.
This is a biennial juried exhibition of hand-pulled prints that are currently on exhibit at Northwind Art Best Gallery in Port Townsend.
Juror Marit Berg, a printmaker and art professor in Tacoma, selected approximately 60 works from 40 artists for the gallery exhibition, displayed in partnership with Corvidae Press, a nonprofit printmakers’ guild in Port Townsend.
Berg picked eight award winners:
Best of Show: Margaret van Patten, “All We Carry”;
Second place: Monique Wales, “Birds of a Feather”;
Third place: Peter Baczek, “Diagonals”;
Merit Award: Becky Birinyi, “SLP #8”;
Merit Award: Paula Gill, “Harriet Powers Quiltmaker”;
Merit Award: Ilse Reimnitz, “Summer Bouquet”;
Juror’s Choice: Tina Juvonen, “The Gathering.”
Rebecca Boraz won Curator’s Choice for “Remembering the Future #2.”
“I congratulate all of the artists included in this exhibit,” said Michael D’Alessandro, exhibit director for Northwind Art.
“It is a rigorous process, and all are to be commended for their talent and beautiful artwork,” he said.
The People’s Choice award will be announced at the end of the exhibit.
The Printmaker’s Hand V is on exhibit through Oct. 31. To learn more about the show, go to NorthwindArt.org.
