North Olympic Counties Farm Bureau starts scholarship program

Posted

The North Olympic Counties Farm Bureau is now accepting applications for its “Farm Stories Educational Scholarship” program.

The new annual program is intended to encourage students seeking higher education in the areas of agriculture and agribusiness, and the bureau will award scholarships to a student from both Clallam and Jefferson counties.

“I’m really excited we are able to offer this scholarship,” said Samantha Janes, president of the North Olympic Counties Farm Bureau.

“We went outside of the typical ‘scholarship’ box to include students from ages 16 to 60 because keeping local farming strong is of benefit to every community and we are seeing more and more adults become interested in farming,” Janes added.

The North Olympic Counties Farm Bureau is a voluntary, grassroots, advocacy organization that represents the social and economic interests of farm and ranch families in Jefferson and Clallam counties.

The scholarship program is accepting applications of qualified applicants from both counties through
April 30.
