At approximately 1:51 a.m. on Monday, March 17, East Jefferson Fire Rescue responded to a report of a fire in the 600 block of Robbins Road on Marrowstone Island.
First-arriving crews found a recreational vehicle fully involved with flames emerging from the passenger side.
Its resident had safely evacuated outside, and reported no injuries.
She stated she was awake, began smelling something burning and got up to find smoke pouring in from the door at the rear of the RV.
She exited, and found items outside the vehicle were also burning.
Crews were able to extinguish the fire by 2:34 a.m., without involving any neighboring structures.
Responding crews included Battalion 11, Engines 6 and 7, Medic 1, Tenders 4, 5 and 6, and Air 4, along with Engine 91 from Naval Region Northwest on Indian Island.
The RV appears to be a total loss, and the cause and origin of the fire are being investigated by the Jefferson County Fire Marshal’s Office.
