The "no contact" water advisory for Port Ludlow Bay will be lifted Tuesday, Jan. 12, Jefferson County Public Health officials announced Friday.
Residents were advised to stay out of the bay and warning signs were posted along the shore earlier this week following a sewage overflow early in the morning Tuesday that spilled 42,000 gallons of sewage and stormwater into Port Ludlow Bay.
Heavy rainfall was blamed for the sewage overflow.
Olympic Water and Sewer, the water utility company that provides residential and commercial services within the Port Ludlow Master Planned Resort community, cleared the blockage that led to the spill and confirmed that plant operations had returned to normal by 7 a.m. Tuesday.
Although the water quality has improved, according to Jefferson County Public Health, the agency is advising the public to avoid areas around stormwater pipes during heavy rainfall events due to the possibility of pollutants in the water.
