In a big week for business birthdays, Homer Smith Insurance is marking 75 years while the reopening of Norland General Store is now a yearling.
Homer Smith Insurance is inviting the community to its 75th anniversary celebration from 5 to 9 p.m. on Saturday, May 24, at the Northwest Maritime Center at 431 Water St. in Port Townsend.
Hors d'oeuvres, cake, soft drinks, beer and wine will be served, while the evening’s entertainment is set to include Kevin Mason opening with a solo “vintage set” at 5 p.m., followed by Mason performing with the Port Townsend All-Stars at 6:45 p.m.
Also on Saturday, the Nordland General Store is celebrating its one-year anniversary as a community co-op with a “Birthday Bash,” from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., complete with a community photo, giveaways, music, “fun and games,” and a “huge” birthday cake, at 7180 Flagler Road on Marrowstone Island.
The Nordland General Store is also hosting the annual Tractor Days Parade from 1-3 p.m. on Sunday, May 25, which includes the Marrowstone Island triathlon of running, kayaking and bicycling.
