A 38-year-old King County woman was arrested on suspicion of impaired driving after she crashed her Chevy Tahoe into a tree next to US Highway 101 near the Mason-Jefferson County line last week.
The crash happened around 12:30 p.m. Saturday, May 14.
The woman was traveling north on the highway with her small dog on the way to meet her family at their vacation home in Brinnon.
A passerby called 911 upon seeing the Tahoe in the ditch and emergency responders from Brinnon Fire Department were sent to the scene.
The woman and the dog sustained minor injuries. The driver refused treatment before being taken into custody by the Washington State Patrol on DUI charges.
Brinnon Fire Chief Tim Manly said the woman was suspected to have been distracted and intoxicated at the time of the incident.
The woman’s mother took the dog home and the vehicle was towed from the scene.
