I would like to say I think Monica MickHager should be on the City Council. I know well that it is really really hard for anyone to be a citizen legislator and maintain a normal life. However everyone who is there has asked to be there and to do that job. Monica has proved she can from ten years of service to our city already. Hopefully, she can spark what appears from the outside to be an enervated City Council which seems to be allowing the administrative staff to weaken the council’s mandate to set the agenda and really act as our representatives. They also appear to be shutting down citizen participation in any meaningful way. I have heard many comments over the last year to this effect, including from former council members, County Commissioners, and city staffers. Let’s put some life back and get them to pay attention in a more nuanced way. I think Monica can do this.
