Traffic on southbound Highway 19 was stalled Thursday morning after an a driver crashed into a utility pole.
Details on the crash, which happened just before 10:30 a.m. May 26, were sparse.
A driver in a Ford Mustang apparently collided with another vehicle at the Highway 19 intersection with Ness' Corner Road, then continued south, leaving the road on the right shoulder and striking a power pole just south of Carl's Building Supply.
Debris from the vehicle was strewn across the turn lane at Ness' Corner Road.
Deployed airbags were visible in the Mustang.
Multiple police patrol cars and fire department units were on the scene, and the driver was put in a neck brace and placed on a stretcher before being transported for medical care.
A medical airlift helicopter landed at Jefferson County International Airport at 10:30 a.m.
