The Port Townsend Main Street Program has selected Natalie Maitland as its new executive director, starting May 21.

Maitland succeeds Mari Mullen, who’s leaving her position at the end of May, after having joined the organization in 1998.

A resident of Port Townsend, Maitland brings more than 15 years of experience in marketing, communications, events, business development, hospitality and tourism to the position.

Maitland previously served as director of operations at Fort Worden Hospitality, and collaborated with a number of community organizations, including the Port Townsend Main Street Program, during her time there.

Maitland’s involvement in regional events, business and tourism organizations includes the Quimper Events Collective, in addition to working closely with the Main Street team through her participation on the Creative District subcommittee.

“We were impressed with the high caliber of the applicants who expressed interest in the position,” said Casey Hannam, board president of the Port Townsend Main Street Program. Maitland will be a “a great fit for this position," said Hannam.

“I look forward to building upon the rich tradition of Main Street, and helping shape the bright future of a vibrant Port Townsend,” Maitland said. “Through listening and collaboration, my goal is to strengthen community ties, working to support the historic uptown and downtown as a place both residents and visitors enjoy and appreciate.”

The Port Townsend Main Street Program will mark its 40th anniversary by taking its Family Portrait Town Photo on May 31 at the U.S. Post Office.
