It is with great sorrow to announce that Louise Marzyck, our beloved Mother, Grandma and Friend, passed away peacefully after a brief illness on September 30, 2024 in Port Townsend, WA, surrounded by her loving family. She was 90 years old.
Esther Louise Grimes, who went by her middle name Louise, was born on Dec. 6, 1933 in Waterloo, Iowa, to Francis and Esther Grimes. She graduated from Lewis and Clark High School in Spokane, WA in 1951 and from Washington State College in 1955. In 1956 she married Jerry Marzyck and they settled in Jerry’s hometown of Richland, WA where they lived happily for the next 35+ years and raised three children, Catherine, Bev and Jeff, before retiring and moving to Port Townsend, WA in 1992.
Louise was preceded in death by her beloved husband Jerry in 1997 and dear daughter Bev in 2022, and is survived by daughter Catherine Marzyck, son Jeff Marzyck, grandchildren Katy, Claire and Lydia Lenning, Erin and Jered Marzyck, and great-grandchildren Jayce and Kaia Marzyck.
In lieu of gifts or flowers, please consider making a donation in Louise’s name to any of her favorite charities. These include: Jefferson Healthcare Hospice Foundation, ECCHO in Port Townsend, Habitat for Humanity of Jefferson County, The Humane Society of Jefferson County, ASPCA, The Seattle Youth Symphony Orchestra, Mercy Corps, and any non-profit foundation supporting cancer research.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, December 7, 2024, at 2:00pm until 4:30pm at The Old Alcohol Plant, 310 Hadlock Bay Road, Port Hadlock, WA 98339. Please RSVP by November 25 to Catherine Marzyck at cmarzyck@yahoo.com if you plan to attend.
