1956-2024

Linda Kay Lubinski passed on Friday, August 30, 2024, in Port Townsend, Washington, at home with her beloved husband, David Lubinski. She is mourned deeply by David, their daughters Lissa Lubinski and Emily Gordillo, grandsons Felix, Sam, Zack, and Max, and her mother Ruth McNiff, and mother-in-law Audrey Mahr.

Linda was born to Mike and Ruth McNiff in Eau Claire, Wisconsin in 1956, and married her high school sweetheart, David, in 1977. They welcomed daughters Lissa Kate in 1981 and Emily Elizabeth in 1982. After their family moved to Texas, Linda attended Texas Women’s University and graduated with her Registered Nursing degree while helping both girls through high school.

She worked as a registered nurse at Baylor University Medical Center. Linda and David relocated to the Pacific Northwest in 2000, and Linda continued her career serving patients and their families in the oncology unit of the University of Washington Medical Center. As there were often more than one nurse named Linda, she was given the nickname, “Lindalu.”

When Lissa and Emily welcomed children of their own, Linda retired from nursing to devote herself to her family and spend time with her daughters and grandsons. David and Linda fell in love with Port Townsend in the 1990’s and bought a home there in 2007.

Lissa and Emily both settled nearby with their families, and Linda enjoyed visiting them frequently, becoming a fixture in all their lives. She and David delighted in visiting their daughters and families, volunteering doing restoration work in Sather Park, Kayaking in the Salish Sea and hiking the forests of the Olympic Peninsula.

Linda’s generosity, warmth, and love for her family shed an incredible light on all who knew her, and she is profoundly missed.

In lieu of gifts or flowers, Linda’s family asks that you consider planting a tree, or donating to Jefferson Community Foundation, Quimper Parks & Trees Fund, which is planting trees across the Quimper Peninsula. Linda also supported Habitat for Humanity of East Jefferson County. She loved taking care of people more than anything. Please, take care of each other.
