The Port Townsend Police Department received a total of 155 calls between Friday, Jan. 14, and Thursday, Jan. 20.  Below are selected reports.

At 10:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 14, a caller in the 400 block of Sims Way reported that a woman sitting in a wheelchair outside had previously claimed she was coming to Port Townsend to kill people. She was talking nonsense and making strange requests. The business knew the woman on a first-name basis, as did police officers.

At 4:20 p.m. Friday, Jan. 14, a caller reported finding a balloon filled with a white substance in the 1900 block of 21st Street. Officers collected the item.

At 9 p.m. Friday, Jan. 14, a caller in the 200 block of Monroe Street said they were asking someone to leave, but he was hiding in the bushes behind the caller’s car and had kicked the car’s tires. When officers arrived, the man was not able to be located, but they advised the caller that they would issue a trespass from the premises. The individual who had disappeared was known to law enforcement.

At 9:40 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 15, a caller in the area of Cook and 53rd streets reported that a female carrying a white bucket had walked down the cliff and onto North Beach with a dog while there was a tsunami advisory. Officers patrolled the area, and said there were “a ton of people” out. It was determined that the woman was not in any danger.

At 5:20 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 15, a caller in the 1000 block of 54th Street reported that someone had written and cashed a check for $5,000 using the caller’s bank account and routing numbers. The suspect was unknown. The caller asked for a police report on the fraud to give to their bank.

At 8:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 15, someone in the vicinity of the Port of Port Townsend said a vehicle had been running for 15 minutes near the schooner Adventuress, and they were concerned that someone may be casing the buildings. Officers arrived and found that the sound was a generator running on a boat occupied by a man and his children.
