As an Uptown Port Townsend resident I strongly agree with Peter West’s letter, “City can put homeless camp in Uptown area.”
Integrating the homeless as well as affordable housing into residential neighborhoods would be a truly meaningful step towards real housing solutions and keeping PT a welcoming place for families and working people. Isolating such housing and fueling the recent trend of overvaluing properties leading to gentrification and exclusivity is not.
Property tax and zoning reform that increase sustainability and access is needed. PT can be a great place to live for all.
