Kamala Harris has grit. She demonstrated that in the recent pugilistic event on Fox New with Bret Baier. The event had been designed by Fox and Baier to walk all over Harris, but she didn’t allow that to happen. I learned that she can combat well.
I say “event,” for it wasn’t an interview. Baier constantly tried to interrupt Harris. He did not want to hear her policy or politics. It wasn’t a debate either, for in a debate a moderator would have kept the participants in some kind of lane and let each of them speak. Fox and Baier designed this event not to interview or debate Harris but rather to humiliate her. Instead, she stood strong.
This full-on, talk-over-your-opponent punching was not realistically a scenario where policy was going to come out. But that said, Harris was still able to make some policy points, such as when she described (despite much interruption) how she and Biden had supported recent bilateral legislation to strengthen immigration policy, which, to America’s misfortune, was killed in Congress at Trump’s urging; Harris, as president, will work to get that legislation moving again.
The Fox and Baier event showed me a critical part of Harris’s character. She entered an arena she knew would be hostile and showed she’s a tough lady who can’t be rolled over. I now know that President Kamala Harris will stand tall and represent America well on domestic and international stages, even when circumstances are difficult.
