Joseph (Joe) Rutter passed away on May 20, 2021 at the age of 71.

He was born to Wilson and Mary Rutter on Dec. 30, 1949.

Joe lived quite an adventurous life. He was born and raised in Seattle, Washington. He then moved to the Olympic Peninsula with his family, where he finished high school at Chimacum. Joe, his brother Nick and friends fondly told stories of the great and wild times they had on the peninsula in their younger days.

Joe was a very passionate musician. He played the guitar and in his younger years was the keyboard player in the rock band “Ouda Control.” In 1977, Joe opened the local landmark Ajax Cafe in Lower Hadlock, which still exists today.

Anyone who knew Joe, knew he had a huge heart. He was a kind and gentle soul, and we’ll all miss his big Greek laugh that put a smile on all our faces.

Joe is survived by his mother Mary; brother Nick; children Chad, Joe, Maria and Charlotte; and grandchildren, Wilson and Jack.
