John Boulton

In Memoriam 1927 - 2022

Friends and admirers are invited to a reception in his honor from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 4, 2022 at the Worthington Mansion, 101 E. Columbia St., Quilcene. John was a prominent member of the Quilcene and Jefferson County Communities for 75 years. Born in Seattle, John moved to the Lake Leland Area in 1950 to take over the large family dairy farm. While continuing to work the farm, he began to pick up extra income from driving logging trucks. That led to him eventually owning his own logging outfit and employing many locals in different capacities of the industry.

In addition to running two businesses, he became active in local civic activities, serving several terms as a school board member, serving on the Jefferson County Soil Conservation Board, and running for county commissioner. His interest in the well being of the community was evidenced by his regular letters to the editor of The Leader, and his generous support of numerous nonprofit organizations, including the development of the Quilcene Museum and the Worthington Mansion restoration.

His commitment to his farm roots was evidenced by his decision to work with the Jefferson County Land Trust to entrust it to protect the farm, thereby keeping Boulton Farms as a part of the developing farm movement in the county. He had a lifelong passion for reading and being informed about many topics.

All are invited and welcome to attend and to honor his many contributions to the community.
