Jefferson Healthcare is limiting visitations due to a high prevalence of COVID-19 throughout Jefferson County.
All departments operated by the district will only allow visitation under certain special circumstances, according to a recent announcement from Jefferson Healthcare.
The purpose of the restriction, according to hospital officials, is to curb the spread of COVID-19 and other respiratory illnesses.
Special circumstances, according to Jefferson Healthcare, are defined as:
• Patients with altered mental status, developmental delays or who display disruptive behavior and require the company of a caregiver;
• Minor patients may be accompanied by a caregiver;
• Patients who require the presence of a support person to help navigate complex medical decision-making; and
• Patients with disabilities.
Children under 16 will also not be allowed to visit any department.
