The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office received 230 calls for service between Saturday, June 11 and Friday, June 17. Below are selected reports.
At 11:40 p.m. Wednesday, June 15 in Port Hadlock, a caller reported a potential burglary at the Methodist church.
The caller said it looked like a man who had approached the church appeared to be trying to get inside, and he was carrying something that looked like plants.
A deputy found the man in front of the church.
He said he was looking for flowers to pick, but was advised he could not pick flowers without the owner’s permission.
when asked about the plastic flowers on his bike, the man said he got them from the thrift store.
Nothing appeared to be missing from the church.
At 11:35 a.m. Thursday, June 16 in Port Ludlow, a caller reported a case of fraud that happened on eBay.
The caller said he tried to buy $18,000 in equipment, but had been scammed.
A deputy attempted to call the victim but there was no answer, so a message was left.
At 2:35 p.m. Thursday, June 16 in Port Townsend, a caller reported getting a fraudulent bill from a power company in Texas for $304.93.
The caller contacted his bank and put a watch on his Social Security account. He also contacted the bill collector to say that he wasn’t the person who set up the account.
At 7:39 a.m. Friday, June 17 in Port Ludlow, a garage was burglarized overnight and items were taken.
An unknown suspect entered an unlocked vehicle and took a garage-door opener to get access to the garage.
A toolbox and numerous tools were stolen, along with an assortment of old cigar boxes.
The victim will email a list of missing items.
