The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office responded to 252 calls between Saturday, June 25 and Friday, July 1. Below are selected reports.
At 8:08 p.m. Tuesday, June 28 in Quilcene, a caller said a man was making threats and may have a knife in his possession.
The caller said the man was looking for drugs and was last seen walking across US Highway 101.
The man was found at the Quilcene campground.
The woman who had made the initial call about being threatened called back and said the man actually hadn’t threatened her, but drove past and made eye contact, then returned and walked toward her, coming up to her car and asking for drugs.
The man told a deputy he had asked the woman for rolling papers for tobacco.
At 12:28 p.m. Wednesday, June 29 in Nordland, a caller said items from around the property were now missing.
It was unknown when the theft occurred.
A chainsaw, rakes, and other yard equipment was stolen from an unsecured carport sometime in the past month.
At 12:29 p.m. Wednesday, June 29 in Port Ludlow, authorities received a thirdhand report of a vehicle that had been damaged the night before.
A back window to the vehicle was busted out, and a utility bin and miscellaneous tools were taken.
At 4:44 p.m. Wednesday, June 29 in Port Hadlock, a caller said a utility trailer and lawnmower were stolen from the lot next door.
The theft happened at 2 a.m., and the caller said the camera on an adjacent property had captured footage with headlights.
The caller promised to provide a photo of the stolen lawnmower and trailer.
At 11:33 a.m. Thursday, June 30 in Port Hadlock, a person called on behalf of a property manager to report a former resident was back inside one of the units and is no longer allowed to live there.
Deputies arrived and the person was gone.
Law enforcement determined the person had not actually gone inside the unit and was merely on the property, which was not illegal.
At 8:27 p.m. Thursday, June 30 in Port Ludlow, an overnight theft from a vehicle was reported.
An unlocked vehicle was prowled and a backpack was taken.
The backpack contained a wallet and credit cards.
