The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office received 228 calls for service between Saturday, Aug. 13 and Friday, Aug. 19. Below are selected reports.
At 12:22 a.m. Friday, Aug. 19 in Port Ludlow, a caller reported a theft.
Someone was using the caller’s credit cards.
The caller believed the wallet had been dropped in the parking lot of the Port Townsend QFC.
The suspect was known to authorities, and a deputy made attempts to contact her.
At 6:58 a.m. Friday, Aug. 19 in Port Hadlock, a woman said a man was throwing garbage into her yard. He was now standing by her mailbox.
The man appeared to be transient. He was now walking toward Port Townsend but had left his garbage behind.
A deputy contacted the man. He apologized and said he wasn’t going to cause any more problems on his way to Port Townsend.
At 5:49 p.m. Friday, Aug. 19 in Port Hadlock, someone broke into a storage unit and took multiple things, including tool boxes and other items.
The incident remains under investigation.
At 6:17 p.m. Friday, Aug. 19 in Port Hadlock, a caller said his box truck had been stolen from where it had been parked for storage.
The truck owner got a call from authorities in Kitsap County, who said his truck had been found on the beach and the person who had been driving it was arrested.
A stolen vehicle report was taken and will be forwarded to Kitsap County for charges.
