Jefferson County commissioners appoint new clerk of board

Carolyn Gallaway will be the new clerk of the board for Jefferson County Board of Commissioners starting in January.

Gallaway has been the deputy clerk of the board since April 2013. The impending retirement of Erin Lundgren, the county’s clerk of the board and human resource manager, was announced in November.

County commissioners unanimously voted to install Gallaway as the new clerk at the board’s meeting Monday and said the promotion was “well-deserved.”

Commissioner David Sullivan said Gallaway’s impact has not been limited to her guidance for the board of commissioners, but she has also assisted multiple other county committees.

“It’s hard to herd cats; it’s even harder to herd cats with computers,” joked Commissioner Greg Brotherton.

Gallaway officially becomes clerk Friday, Jan. 1.
