With the heaviest of hearts, we announce the passing of Jason Derek Pederson on February 17, 2025, in Olympia, Washington, at the age of 55. Born on August 18, 1969, in Chehalis, Washington. He graduated from WF West in 1987 and then spent a good bit of his young life in Quilcene. Jason lived a life filled with dedication, love, overcoming hardships and unwavering support for those around him.

Jason built a career marked by loyalty and hard work, dedicating nearly 20 years to I.P. Callisons at both the Chehalis and Lacey locations. His commitment to his work was evident in everything he did, and he took great pride in his contributions.

Above all else, Jason was a devoted father and grandfather. He cherished his two daughters, Mercedes and Dominique, and adored his three grandchildren—Madeline, Marci, and Jackson. His love extended to his siblings Cynthia, Janet, and Shane; his aunt Mary Lou; and his cousins Sam and Steph. He also shared a special bond with his beloved dogs, Sage and Chachi. Jason remained close with his ex-wife Jennifer, with whom he shared many memories over the years. He was preceded in death by his mother Marci and father Walter.

Jason’s passions were as vibrant as his personality. From an early age, he enjoyed playing baseball and later found joy in fishing, family camping trips, attending sports games and concerts, and summer barbecues. He participated in golf tournaments through his work and work friends even though he wasn't the competitive type. Jason always looked forward to spending holidays at his father’s beach house at Dabob Bay in Quilcene. Road trips with Jennifer held a special place in his heart, as did his big fascination with Bigfoot and aliens.

His faith was an essential part of his life, though he was not physically active the whole time by attending his place of worship. In 1997, while in Anchorage, Alaska, Jason embraced Christianity and remained steadfast in his beliefs for the next 27 years.

Jason’s presence will forever be felt by those who loved him. Though he is no longer physically with us, he remains a part of us—within our hearts and memories—his legacy living on through those he touched

A memorial gathering will be held on March 29, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Church of Living Water, located at 1615 Chambers St. SE in Olympia, Washington.
