Three juveniles were arrested after a high-speed pursuit involving a stolen vehicle ended near Highway 20 on Oct. 9, according to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.
The Nissan truck in question was reported missing from a driveway in the 400 block of Hastings Avenue by its owner on Oct. 8.
The next day, the owner reported that his daughter saw the truck driving in Port Townsend near Discovery Road and Sheridan Street, said Patrol Sergeant Brett Anglin.
Deputy Jacob Pursch and Sergeant Chad Wheeler, with the sheriff’s office, located the vehicle on Discovery Road at 2:50 p.m. and attempted to stop it.
The driver accelerated and proceeded to drive south toward Glen Cove.
The car reached speeds up to 90 mph at one point, doing damage to other vehicles and property along the way, Anglin said.
The stolen vehicle collided with a parked car on Flamingo Road and the occupants fled on foot.
Deputies deployed drones and located three subjects running from the scene.
“Those three subjects were followed until the area of Highway 20 where they were detained by law enforcement,” Anglin said, noting the arrests were made at 3:08 p.m. “At the time, the UAV was unable to locate any other person fleeing from the scene.”
Two of the juveniles were released at the scene, while the third was taken into custody and transferred to Kitsap Youth Center.
“We have to do more investigating to come to the conclusion of who was responsible," Anglin said.
The incident remains under investigation, and potential charges are pending.
