Help needed with homeless cats, kittens | Letters to the editor

Posted

This is a plea, for the Humane Society, for help with the large spring influx of homeless cats and kittens.

Helping would involve caring for or fostering a pregnant mother, or a mother with kittens, fostering them until the kittens are 8 weeks old and/or 2 pounds, when they are returned to the shelter, spayed/neutered, and put up for adoption.

You will get all the veterinary care needed, plus food and litter, for the eight to nine weeks you will have them.

On May 5, I received a very pregnant mother, who then delivered six kittens four days later. It was an absolutely amazing experience, watching the mother go through the process of raising her babies, with almost no help from me. They are now 4½ weeks old and the cutest things I’ve ever seen.

If this sounds like something you can do, call the shelter at 360-385-3292, or call me at 206-755-0609, and I will explain the whole process to you. The only hard part is returning them to the shelter, because you will become attached to the little angels, but you will know that you gave them the opportunity to live a good life. Please call.
