Yet another plea from Mayor David Faber in the Sept. 18 Leader to explain why houses on the golf course are good for Port Townsend. This, in spite of the resounding rejection of that idea in the public involvement process concluded just a few months ago. Has the mayor, city manager, and certain members of the city council forgotten that the citizenry voted overwhelmingly for a park and golf course? It seems clear they invented the public involvement process at great expense to the tax payers believing that the public would surely vote for houses and against open public space. Didn’t happen. No wonder they would like for those results to be forgotten. I have to wonder why Mayor Faber would bother to write such a long article discrediting arguments against housing on the golf course if, as he says, there would be no houses for 10 or more years. As the Bard might say — me thinks the Mayor protests too much...
